Onam is one of the biggest festivals in Kerala. Onam festival is in the Malayali month "Chingam". People believe that On Onam the king Mahabali will come to visit every house of Malayalis. Onam is a major annual event for Malayali people in and outside Kerala. Onam lasts for ten days and brings out the best of Kerala culture and tradition.

Legend Behind The Festival

According to the Hindu mythology, Mahabali was the great great grandson of a Brahmin sage named Kashyapa, the great-grandson of demonic dictator Hiranyakashipu, and the grandson of Vishnu devotee Prahlada. The Legend Mahabali came into power by defeating the gods and taking over 3 worlds.
